Westminster is centered in the largest apple producing area of the state and is the home of the South Carolina Apple Festival. Its historic neighborhoods and quaint shops reside in a region of scenic beauty with a wide variety of recreational opportunities.
Having weathered the impact of contractions in its traditional industries, the city is seeking to further diversify its economic base and is looking to growth in heritage and nature-based tourism to bolster the local economy. The recent loss of the historic Westminster Depot to fire has served as a catalyst to unite the community to action. Efforts are underway to rebuild the structure and further the process of community revitalization.
