Smoak
|
Piedmont's General Manager is Coleman Smoak. He has been involved in the public power industry for more than 30 years. From 1985 to 2006, he was the General Manager of the Laurens SC Commission of Public Works, a municipally-owned combined utility system and one of Piedmont's Members. Mr. Smoak is a former member of Piedmont's Board of Directors and served as Chairman from 1989 through 1993.

Piedmont Power's engineering department is responsible for all power supply issues, sales of surplus power and any other operations related functions. The department also oversees Piedmont Power's demand-side management programs, which include monitoring energy usage and demand within the Piedmont Power region.

Piedmont Power's legislative activities include establishing, prioritizing, updating and lobbying legislative groups to ensure the agency's and its members' interests are considered in the legislative and regulatory process. These activities include direct interaction with the S.C. General Assembly, the Governor's Office, the Public Service Commission and the U.S. Congress, as well as grass-roots groups among the 10 Piedmont Power member communities.
